2010/2011 Variety Evaluations - Bathurst, NSW

WEEK 13 - 31 January 2011

Comments: The weather leading up to this week has seen increasing sunshine and heat. Mornings early in the week down to 10-15C. Maximum temps in high 30's. No rain.

Orion YF Nectarine 31/1/11 (1st pick) - This is a medium chill variety from France. Average 75mm fruit (237g) (unthinned tree) with average TSS (12-13 Brix) this season. This would be the standout variety of the season. The tree is upright and strong (easy to train) and crop loads are very high and the fruit measured above was from unthinned trees. Heavy crop load and large size, high quality fruit is easy even during a difficult season.

SF 99-111 YF Peach 31/1/11 - This is a medium chill variety from France. Average 73mm fruit (181g) with average TSS (15 Brix) this season.

Gloria (K40-34) WF Peach 31/1/11 (1st pick) - This is a very firm (stony hard gene) medium chill variety from New Jersey, USA. Average 67mm fruit (148g) from an unthinned tree with average TSS (14 Brix) this season.

Black Amber YF Plum 31/1/11 - This is a medium chill variety from California. Average 66mm fruit (150g) (unthinned tree) with average TSS (14 Brix) this season.
