2010/2011 Variety Evaluations - Bathurst, NSW

WEEK 8 - 27 December 2010

Comments: The weather leading up to this week has been unstable again with storms. 20mm+ with minimal sunshine and no heat, so low sugars in fruit. Cold mornings early in the week down to 4-5C. Maximum temps in low to mid -20's.

Onyx WF Peach 28/12/10 - This is a medium chill variety from France. Average 68mm fruit (220g) with average TSS (13-14 Brix) this season.

Coraline YF Peach 28/12/10 - This is a medium chill variety from France. Average 70mm fruit (234g) with average TSS (13-14 Brix) this season.

NJA-105 apricot 28/12/10 - NJA-105 is a medium chill apricot variety from New Jersey, USA. The fruit had 50% red skin blush, 55-60mm (90g) oblong fruit, average 19 Brix. <5% shoulder cracking above the suture even after 20mm rain. Nice sweet apricot flavour. Approx. 30% crop load after a poor pollination season.

ANF410 apricot 28/12/10 - ANF410 is a medium chill apricot variety from Stanthorpe, Qld. The fruit had light yellow skin, 60-65mm (107g) fruit, average 14 Brix. Approx. 30% crop load after a poor pollination season.

9C 58/6 apricot 28/12/10 - 9C 58/6 is a medium chill apricot variety from Italy. The fruit had dark orange skin, 63mm (135g) oblong fruit, average 14 Brix. Nice apricot flavour. Approx. 30% crop load after a poor pollination season.
