2010/2011 Variety Evaluations - Bathurst, NSW

WEEK 9 - 3 January 2011

Comments: The weather leading up to this week has been unstable again with storms. 30mm+ with increasing sunshine and some heat, so lower sugars in fruit. Mornings early in the week down to 15C. Maximum temps in high 20's.

Cristal WF Nectarine 6/1/11 - This is a medium chill variety from France. Average 73mm fruit (188g) with average TSS (13-15 Brix) this season.

Beryl (SF99-110) WF Nectarine 6/1/11 - This is a medium chill variety from France. Average 73mm fruit (182g) with average TSS (12-13 Brix) this season.

SF 04-130 YF Nectarine 6/1/11 - This is a medium chill variety from France. Average 70mm, very firm fruit (175g) with average TSS (17.5 Brix) this season.

Summer Sun YF Peach 6/1/11 - This is a medium chill variety from California. Average 80mm fruit (242g) with average TSS (13-15 Brix) this season.

Pisana apricot 6/1/11 - This is a medium chill variety from Italy. The fruit had no red skin blush, 55mm (90g) fruit, average 16 Brix. Approx. 30% crop load after a poor pollination season.

Benmore apricot 6/1/11 - This is a high chill variety from NZ. The fruit had no red skin blush, 49mm (66g) fruit, average 14 Brix. Approx. 30% crop load after a poor pollination season.

J1-139 apricot 6/1/11 - This is a medium chill variety from New Jersey, USA. The fruit had 50-60% red skin blush, 52mm (78g) fruit, average 15 Brix. Approx. 50% crop load after a poor pollination season.

Paterson apricot 6/1/11 - The fruit had 20% red skin blush, 53mm (84g) fruit, average 14.6 Brix. Approx. 50% crop load after a poor pollination season.
